Everyone's going a little crazy for Hemp Seed Oil at the moment and rightly so. It’s so light but still deeply hydrating, it’s non-comedogenic (meaning it won’t clog your pores), anti-inflammatory, full of vitamins, antioxidants - honestly, we could go on and on… But as the Hemp and CBD trend rises a lot of questions are arising.  What is Hemp Seed Oil made from? Is it actually good for your skin? And can it get you high…?

Are CBD Oil and Hemp Seed Oil the same thing?

CBD oil is made from the leaves, flowers and stalks of the Cannabis Sativa plant—the only parts of the plant where cannabidiol is found.

Hemp oil, or hemp seed oil, is made from the hemp seeds from the same plant, meaning there is little to no CBD content. The oil is rich in healthy omega-3 fatty acids, so it can do wonders, but beyond that it doesn’t have the same psychological effects of CBD (the calming aspects for the mind) – it does however have amazing calming properties for your skin! The oil is legally used in large quantity for cosmetics and nutritional supplements when it has a THC content of less than 0.3%.

CBD & Hemp together is an natural emollient, is deeply hydrating and helps soothe stressed out skin.

Wait… so can Hemp Seed Oil get you high?

In short… no. Hemp Seed Oil is not the same as CBD or the Cannabis plant you might be a little more familiar with. It contains few-to-no cannabinoids (THC- which can get you high) because they’re not present in the seeds of the Hemp plant which the oil is made from.

While other kinds of oils from the same plant are rich in cannabinoids and are common in recreational drug use, hemp seed oil contains mostly omega fatty acids that do wonders for your skin. So, there’s no need to worry about high off of Hemp Seed Oil, you won't. You can already find it in a variety of skincare products, and you can even eat it!
