We love a glass (or few…) of bubbly as much as the next person, but it’s undeniable it can have a massive effect on your skin. So how do you prevent (or treat) hungover skin? Here are our recommendations for skincare for the party season...
Firstly, think dehydration - Alcohol is a diuretic (which means it forces water out of our bodies) resulting in dullness, dryness and more pronounced fine lines and wrinkles. Alcohol is also usually high in sugar content, so along with the dehydration, skin becomes more prone to breakouts due to a disrupted skin microbiome. We’ve also often got dark circles to deal with (alcohol causes disrupted sleep) and redness - it also causes inflammation to your bodies tissues, releasing a histamine that dilates the blood’s capillaries.
