Beauty junkie. Product developing expert. Mother. Design lover. Secret Seeker. Scientia founder! Get inside Tiff’s mind with this quick-fire Q&A…
First thing that comes to mind when you hear Scientia?
Can I say blood, sweat and tears?! Really though, it’s about innovation and knowledge – combining the two to help you get the best results and experience out of your skincare.
Who is your biggest inspiration?
Honestly, my Mum. She’s worked unbelievably hard her entire life all whilst raising 5 kids. She’s set such an incredible example for me, many a great idea has been formed over a glass of Rosē with my Mum.
Where do you get your ideas from?
Literally everywhere. I talk to a lot of people about skincare and I listen to the questions they ask me. I do a lot of research, I meet with a lot of industry experts – from buyers, to cosmetic scientists to ingredient suppliers – so I get a good understanding of what’s happening in the market. I’m also lucky enough to travel for work, picking up on emerging global trends. Although that said, some ideas just pop out of nowhere… I came up with the name Scientia at the hairdressers, so you never know!
How do you want people to feel when they use your products?
I want Scientia to invoke confidence, a feeling of reassurance that you’re going to get the results you want. But most of all I want people to enjoy the experience of using Scientia. In this crazy world we live in I absolutely love having a moment for myself to carefully apply my skincare products - it makes me feel good and I want other people to feel that too- I treat it like a mini meditation to start and end the day.
Biggest mistake you’ve ever made – did you learn anything from it?
I couldn’t possibly tell you that! Did I learn anything from it? Still to be determined…
What’s the most exciting thing you’re working on right now?
There’s too many to count and almost all of them are a secret! I’ll tell you one thing though- we always announce everything on social first so go give @scientiabeauty a follow for the best sneak peeks.
Best advice you’ve ever been given?
Ask questions. You’re never going to learn anything if you don’t ask. Put yourself out there, even if it makes you feel stupid because no-one knows absolutely everything. I’ve made a point of surrounding myself with people who know more than I do in their fields - incredibly talented formulation chemists, the very best graphic designers and so on… those are the people I want helping to make my Scientia dreams become reality!
Any words to live by…
You’ll never achieve anything amazing staying inside your comfort zone- cliché but true- we do have to push ourselves. When it comes to beauty? I tell people to think of their skincare routine like the gym, you have to put the time in and be consistent to see the results!
